Part-time Faculty Brown Bag: Academic Support Strategies Online

CAT+FD welcomes all current part-time faculty to our monthly online gathering, designed with your busy schedules in mind. These sessions provide valuable opportunities to connect with colleagues across campus while exploring topics that directly impact your teaching effectiveness.

This Month's Focus: Academic Support Strategies That Make a Difference

Learn how seemingly routine academic practices can become powerful tools for student retention and success. This session will explore practical approaches to supporting your students through consistent feedback, timely communication, and strategic use of Xavier's support systems.

Dr. Robin Vander, Associate Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, will speak about emerging trends in student expectations and student-teacher-(and parent!) dynamics. Learn about best practices in this changing environment and get a chance to ask the Associate Dean any Xavier-related question you may have on your mind.

Key Areas We'll Cover:

  • Understanding the Early Alert system and when to use it effectively
  • Best practices for timely grading that keeps students engaged and informed
  • How your academic practices connect to Xavier's broader student success initiatives

Why This Matters: Small adjustments to how we communicate with and evaluate students can significantly impact their academic journey. You'll discover how your existing teaching practices can be enhanced to better serve students while maintaining manageable workloads.

You will receive the Zoom link for this session in an email after you register for this event.
