Level Up: Build AI Chatbots with Python In-Person

Are you ready to take your chatbot skills to the next level? This follow-up workshop transitions from no-code solutions to Python-based development, giving you the tools to create more sophisticated and customizable AI assistants.

What You'll Learn: Building on your Poe experience, you'll explore the world of Python chatbot development through live coding demonstrations and collaborative hands-on work. Watch as we build a chatbot from scratch, focusing on conversational logic, understanding user intents, and crafting meaningful responses. Then work in pairs or small groups to customize a template bot with your own workflows—imagine automated reminder systems, document summarization tools, or specialized academic assistants.

Advanced Integration: Take your bot beyond basic conversation with our integration challenge, where you'll explore connecting your creation to external data sources like Google Calendar or knowledge bases. While we'll provide simple examples to get you started, this session opens doors to understanding how chatbots can become truly powerful workflow automation tools.

Collaborative Development: This isn't a solo coding experience. You'll work in pairs or small groups, sharing ideas and troubleshooting together. The showcase portion allows each team to demonstrate their unique solutions while the group reflects on technical challenges, creative approaches, and future possibilities for AI integration in academic and administrative work.

What to Expect: We'll provide a Python chatbot template and installation instructions one week prior, along with a beginner-friendly Python tutorial to ensure everyone starts on solid ground. No advanced programming experience required—just the curiosity you brought to the first session and willingness to experiment with code.

Beyond the Workshop: Leave with a curated collection of Python resources, chatbot frameworks, and tutorials for continued learning. Plus, gain access to an optional ongoing support channel where you can continue collaborating with fellow participants as you develop your skills.
